Boost Your Holiday Web Site Positions Using Search Engine Optimization Techniques

How can Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing in the holiday season boost your web sites positions? You could be asking yourself that if you have a web site that’s not being found when searches are being done. People are searching the web for answers, relevant answers they can use in their lives. Some experts coin these answers as relevant content. In the holiday spirit of giving to those of you who do internet marketing for your online business I want to pose this question?


Have you heard this expression or maybe even said it to yourself: (Home Based) Business is tough during the holidays and slows down.


Is that expression really true? Where did you get that idea? Are you positive that’s really a fact? We’ve all heard about the law of attraction by now. If you haven’t viewed the movie “The Secret” by now you’re missing out. One of the lessons I received from this movie about the laws of the universe is that “thoughts are real things” so “what you think about you bring about.” Maybe you’ve heard that saying other wise but so far the words have been lost for a meaning that strikes home for you.


If you’re like most people right now you’re doing a little holiday shopping for your family and friends. On the other side of the counter are the businesses that are booming right now because of all the holiday shopping activities. To take that thought process to the next step I’d venture a guess that a lot of those purchases are taking place over the internet. Just think of how much of your shopping has been done online this year! The online businesses that have learned the art of internet marketing are making a lot of money right now. Don’t you have an online business too?


How would it be for you if you didn’t actually believe the above statement that your home business has to slow down because people aren’t interested because of the holidays? Why can’t you be taking advantage of the holiday buying and selling cycle too?


You may now be asking how I can as a home based business owner take advantage of this. Until I questioned my thoughts and beliefs about how business was going to be during the holidays I got the results of those current thoughts and beliefs. If you get into the spirit of giving from your business point of view you can actually help a lot of people that are searching the internet for a solution to their problems or situations. Here’s how I did that.


First, I made the decision that my business was going to do better than it ever has. Most of my competition has decided that they’re just going to wait until next year to pick their efforts back up. The decision to take a holiday is ok if you’ve made it for the right reason but if you’re not where you’d like in your business then it’s hurting you.


Next thing to realize is a lot of people and small businesses have surplus cash they need to spend (or invest) before the end of the year or they’ll have to pay taxes on it. If your business is positioned correctly you can help them relieve that situation. For instance if you’re a search engine optimization – search engine marketing specialist you can show these folks how you can help them with their web site and get better rankings.


You can also take advantage of the fact that many people get money as a gift for the holidays. Some of those people are fed up with what they currently do to produce income and are looking for another way, that’s where you come in. You just have to believe that you’re the one that can sincerely do that.


One last thing you can use to your benefit as the holiday season winds down is realize that people make a new years resolution. The first thing people who are resolved to make changes in their lives do is search for a solution. A lot of those people will open their favorite search engine and type in something to the effect of “how do I fix my problem”, be it weight loss, make more money, stop smoking, etc. you may have even done this yourself at one time or another.


To take advantage of these things during this time of the year follow the lead of the smart internet marketers. Give people special offers! People are used to seeing this. If what you have to offer has enough benefit people will buy from you. Special offers aren’t always about slashing your prices either. If your benefit is about caring and customer service then you will stand above your competition. Just ask yourself, how do you feel when someone goes above and beyond and makes your shopping experience pure joy? Give that feeling to your customers and your business will explode because another law in the universe is “what you give, you get back in abundance”. That’s for another time though…
